INSPIRING AFRICAN WOMEN

Image
INSPIRING-causing you to feel confident about yourself or eager to learn or do something. (Cambridge Dict.)  Many people have inspired us to do the things we felt we could never do or felt were hopeless and so today I'll be looking at some African women who have not only inspired me but have inspired millions of  people across the world. These amazing women have defied stereotypes, stood up for what they believed in, and have gone the extra mile to do what others said they couldn’t. Without further ado, lets dive in to see their amazing stories, Iman elman(left) with sister IIwad Elman (right) Iman Elman, when I first heard of Iman Elman I was beyond inspired not only by her selflessness but the selfless dedication of the entire Elman family. Born in October 1982 in Somalia, Iman and her family fled Somalia to escape the then ongoing civil war, her father Elman Ali Ahmed a social activist stayed behind and was subsequently assassinated, You'd think that such a tragedy would ...

Our World Today

Image
If I were to ask how we all were doing right now, I'd probably get answers ranging from ''I'm fine'' too ''fine, how was yours?'' and if I should ask how we thought the world was doing today, what then would we say? we might probably say that the world is fine and if we thought it was fine, then let's take a good look at the society we live in or the places we call home. Do they look fine to us? When you look, listen and read carefully on everything happening in the world today, we'd see that there are a lot of problems, we wake up every day to news of more violence, killings, ravaging diseases, war, and more catastrophes than we can keep track of, we hear of thousands dying and suffering all across the globe, sometimes we even become used to hearing such news and on hearing them we shake our heads in pity or in some cases we offer a simple prayer. And when the question of who or what is to be blamed is asked, we quickly point fi...

Lets Talk Afrobeat

Image
Hey y'all, thanks for taking time to check out this blog, as said in my  about page , it's for all you wonderful people out there, so without further ado let's begin... I recently became very interested in the AFROBEAT genre, previously I generally thought that AFROBEAT is the present day, catchy tuned, racy and upbeat music from artists like Wizkid, Davido, Shata Wale, Diamond Platnumz and the likes, though I wasn't too far from the truth,  After I had done a little digging around the net and all, I found out that AFROBEAT is the Nigerian-Ghanaian musical style pioneered by Fela Kuti in the 1960s, in fact, Afrobeat which is actually what most of us listen to today is almost if not entirely different from AFROBEAT,  Getting confused?  Simply put Fela's AFROBEAT has no letter "s" at the end while our "new day" music has one. With that said, what then is AFROBEAT? AFROBEAT is a musical genre or form of music with origins in West Africa, it's a ...
