Our World Today
If I were to ask how we all were doing right now, I'd probably get answers ranging from ''I'm fine'' too ''fine, how was yours?'' and if I should ask how we thought the world was doing today, what then would we say? we might probably say that the world is fine and if we thought it was fine, then let's take a good look at the society we live in or the places we call home. Do they look fine to us?
When you look, listen and read carefully on everything happening in the world today, we'd see that there are a lot of problems, we wake up every day to news of more violence, killings, ravaging diseases, war, and more catastrophes than we can keep track of, we hear of thousands dying and suffering all across the globe, sometimes we even become used to hearing such news and on hearing them we shake our heads in pity or in some cases we offer a simple prayer. And when the question of who or what is to be blamed is asked, we quickly point fingers at governments, pandemics, wars, human nature, etcetera. But all these don't answer the question.
I once heard an elderly person say that the world in his time was a lot different from what it is now, He talked about a time when the world was a happier place when children could play freely without fear of child molesters, a time when girls and women could walk the streets without fear of being raped, A time when power and money weren't valued over human life and most especially times when other people mattered to us more than our selfish needs and when we didn't fake helpless conditions just so we could swindle others of their hard-earned money.
I wonder if there ever would be a time people around us would matter more than money, power, and our public image. would the awareness and hashtags we create on social media platforms alongside self-motivated charitable donations to the helpless and those in need ever hold meaning in our lives? Most times people say that the world is an evil place and I agree, I agree that evil is indeed in the world but we should also bear in mind that this ''evil'' is represented in every individual who ill-treats his or her fellow human because of their skin color, gender, social class or for any other reason, evil is represented in anyone who rapes or kills cause they feel they can and lastly it is represented in all those who would let another human suffer when they could have helped.
Yes, we want the world to be a changed and better place but are we willing to start this change from ourselves?
Lets Talk
Are we doing enough to make the world a better place?

Keeps getting better

ReplyDeleteI feel so too.
This is so true. I totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteEven Michael Jackson in His song Said "I am standing with the Man in the mirror, I am asking him to make a Change". if You want to make the world a better, take a look at yourself and let it start from there. If You, I and Every other person can take a step, VOILA!
Exactly, let's be the change we want to see.
